Rear Exhaust 25 QuickDraw EngineThe Fastest Gas Engine on the Planet as of 9/04 (106mph without the electronic ignition) |

3 pics of the new rear exhaust Quickdraw 25, the fastest rc gas engine. All QDs now come with electronic ignition which gives a more favorable timing curve, resulting in higher power output, between 16,000 and 20,000+ rpm. The electronic ignition also helps low end power and launch ability by providing a greater spark. Also included is a perry pump that has been matched to each engines carburetor. Both engine and pump have matching serial numbers and should not be separated. The WYK33 carb is reworked by QD to flow more fuel and air. The battery of choice now is a 3 cell LI-POLY 11.1 v 1500 mah. Extensive testing with this battery combination has shown the best battery life (about 1 1/2 hours) with no coil overheating at all, the weight is only 4 ounces. On the dyno this rear exhaust setup shows a power gain of between 15 to 18% over the side port that ran 106mph. (Note: 106mph without the electronic ignition) The price on the new QD rear port is $1500, complete with batteries. The engine Photo's, and article from Mike Bontoft / "Jim's Boat Dock" Sept. 2004 Comments from Mitch Cary re: the latest testing of the next 35Q-Draw Engine I have tried this ignition system on the 35cc and it works very well. It's a very clean installation with the billet aluminum pull start. I have done them both in standard rotation and reverse rotation. So far, I have only run this set up with the standard ignition timing that we always set on the 35. I am sure I will probably find a little bit more power by moving the timing one way or the other. I have bolted on the modified WYK33 carb off the new 25 and that was worth 1/2 hp. From what I have learned from the 25, I think the 35 has the potential to be a rocket ship. Before I can start doing development on the 35 I have to make a steel connecting rod and rebalance the crank accordingly. This will all happen as time permits. Mitch Cary
